Understanding The Gospel

Let's start with what is the Gospel. The Gospel is the good news about the Kingdom of God consisting of the Life, Death, Burial and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Though the Gospel by definition is the Life, Death, Burial and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, it is important to know why Jesus had to Live, Die, be Buried and be Risen. The reason he did all of this was to restore us, sinners, back to the Kingdom of God. We lost this access to the Kingdom of God when Adam and Eve sinned.

The Gospel is made up of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. In these books, you will find that Jesus preached the Gospel of the Kingdom.

Matthew 24: 14

And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

Matthew 4:17

From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.

In Matthew 4:17. This is the first public statement given by Jesus declaring his assignment on Earth.

First, he says to repent. This has to do with your mentality. Repent means to change your mind, turn away from your sins, change the way you think. Second, he says for the Kingdom of Heaven has come near. Christ makes it known to us why he came to Earth. He says, he came to Earth to change the way we think because he came to reintroduce a Kingdom. He came to bring back to the planet the Kingdom of God (Which is the kingdom of Heaven) and he came to change our thinking so we can live in it. That is Jesus assignment.

Romans 12:2

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

In this verse it states to be not conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Why do you think this verse even exists? It is because this verse states you can not carry the mindset of the world system and try to operate with a kingdom mindset.

Some may ask why did Jesus come to preach the Kingdom of God?

It has to do with Gods original plan. God’s intent was to extend his heavenly kingdom on earth through mankind but we broke this when Adam and Eve sinned.

What is Gods goal for mankind?

God's goal is to extend his Kingdom on Earth. God wants to get man back from where we fell. Man fell from dominion over the earth. Satan fell from heaven, not man. We were supposed to take dominion over the fish, the birds, and all the earth. We were established by God to be the king dominion over the Earth according to Genesis. Restoration is God putting us back in dominion over the Earth. God wants to establish a family of sons, not servants, who will establish the Kingdom on Earth for him as sons and not subjects. God wants to establish a commonwealth of citizens. God desires relationship. The rituals impress people, relationship impresses God. In the beginning, it was just Adam and God talking and building relationship.

How do I preach this?

When you meet someone, whether it be at work, school, or family, teach them about the Kingdom of God. Tell them that they can get their citizenship back. Tell them that there is a Kingdom that belonged to them before they were even born. They were born to be apart of a government rulership that has dominion over the Earth. Tell them that their condition is not supposed to control them, they are supposed to control it. Their circumstances are not supposed to run their life, they are supposed to run their circumstances. Them them that they are supposed to be dominating their finances, their emotions, and their problem. Then when they understand that level, tell them how they can not get that mindset without Jesus.

Why do we need Jesus?

All of the stuff that I mentioned about dominion being available to us again is only possible because Jesus died for us. If he did not, we would all be screwed and not have eternal life. Before Jesus came, humans had to live up to the law that God gave to Moses but everybody failed and kept failing. God said how can I solve this problem and not make my people die and have everlasting life because I love them so much? God decided to come down to Earth as Jesus, the human form of him, since he made the rule that to live on earth you have to have a body, and he decided to die so now we are not controlled by the law but we are covered by grace. Grace is a gift freely given by God, not because we did anything to earn or deserve it, grace was given to us just because God loves us so much and so we can have everlasting life. If you reject Jesus, he makes it clear you will not enter into the Kingdom of God.

Jesus left us to finish the work he started with his ministry. Go out and be a blessing and encourage people to believe in Jesus!
